It’s that time of year in Minnesota – lake season! You dropped your phone in the pool – it happens to the best of us! Do these steps if you find yourself with water damage this summer!
Turn It Off
First off – do not panic. Stressful situations get to everyone but panicking is never helpful. Most newer iPhones and Androids are water-resistant or even waterproof. Fish it out of wherever you dropped it, the lake, pool, even the sink, and turn it off immediately.
Dry It Off
Take your phone out of the case (if you have one) and begin to dry it off. Depending on what body of water you dropped it in, you may want to disinfect it with alcohol wipes or other cleaning cloths. Once cleaned, try to dry off your phone with a clean towel.
The Rice Trick
Unfortunately, this is a MYTH. The idea is that the uncooked rice will absorb the moisture from the phone. However, putting a water-damaged phone in a bag of rice is not a good idea for several reasons. Despite the common myth, dry, uncooked rice will not help your phone or tablet dry out.
